Corporate culture is the heart of your corporate video. You probably realize that knowing your company vision, mission and story will be essential to developing your corporate video. Likewise, the concept of your corporate culture will also shape your corporate video script.

In our previous blog, we showcased the corporate video. So we thought we’d take a deeper look at corporate culture and, more specifically, the latest 2020 trends in corporate culture as we see them in 2020.

We’re sure such knowledge will be critical to shaping and creating your video.

A Bullhorn Full of Corporate Culture Defined

Corporate Culture and Your Brand.

Corporate Culture Becomes a Pathway to Brand Recognition. Bullhorn Media Up-Lifts It With Your Corporate Videos.

We know Corporate Culture is a term that gets thrown around a great deal.  So what does it mean? Check it out in Entrepreneur.com and you will see it as “a blend of the values, beliefs, taboos, symbols, rituals, and myths all companies develop over time.”

One point you should understand is that your corporate culture is your organization’s humanity, its personality, as seen through the eyes of the employees.  This is why the idea of corporate culture is so important to your corporate video.  It is your employee’s perspective of your company world. This makes sense since part of the mission of a corporate video is to recruit the best people as employees. Thus, we use an employee perspective to show off the life of your company’s people in your company video. Then, we want the viewers to see transparently into the heart of your corporation.  This is why a corporate video will reveal:

  • Your corporate mission.
  • Clear expectations.
  • And your workplace atmosphere.

Now, we do not expect you to have a written document explaining your culture. The culture of a company might be implied or written between the lines of the logo.  And it might be as simple as your work environment.  At Bullhorn Media we translate that unspoken employee situation into a short, authentic and visionary film.  That is your corporate video.

Is It Your Workplace Fun as Well As Lucrative?

Your Company’s Work Environment Reflects Your Corporate Culture.

So what is your company environment like?  How does it influence the attitude of your employees, whether you have 20 or 200?  Here is what Rob Markey stated about the perspective of your employees in the Harvard Business Review post “Transform Your Employees into Passionate Advocates”.

He stated, “Loyal, passionate employees bring a company as much benefit as loyal, passionate customers. They stay longer, work harder, work more creatively, and find ways to go the extra mile. They bring you more great employees. And that spreads even more happiness — happiness for employees, for customers, and for shareholders.” (And yes, part of your corporate video can be interviews with those happy employees!)

A Bullhorn Blast of Approval for Google’s Corporate Culture

Pause for a moment, and we bet you can immediately recall a company that is the very model of a happy work environment.  For example, Google is legendary in this regard. Their extreme concern for a happy, healthy work environment is almost notorious.

And the people who work there describe it as having a small-company feel where no one hesitates to “spike a volleyball across the net at a corporate officer.”

But wait, we do not want you to have the idea that your culture should be a daily company picnic. We know you do not want your company image to be frivolous or slovenly.

More than a Corporate Picnic

The picnic is certainly part of the culture, but so is the boardroom—and it goes beyond that. The gist of your culture should also involve how your corporation treats human beings, the community, and the world.  For example, Google runs several charity actions. It gives back to the community. And it contributes to the world with volunteer events and financial aid.  Part of their particular and authentic corporate identity is expressed in these words from the executive of another company, Doug Conant of Campbell Soup. “To win in the marketplace, you must first win in the workplace.”

Three Trends in Corporate Culture for the Next Decade

Let’s look at the common trends among some of the best corporations in the country. You might already be using them. Or you might be a new company and simply need to be aware of them.  So, for this blog, we will investigate three of the trending Corporate Culture themes we see in great companies today. Perhaps you will recognize these items within your company’s culture. If you are a young company, perhaps you are building them.

Needless to say, we have focused on these trends as we produced corporate videos for similar companies. (And yet we warn you, your corporate culture must be genuine and authentic to your company. In this century, transparency is everything.)

Trend Number One:  The Company with a Conscience

Corporate Culture Means Caring About Your Workers and Your Community.

Providing a Fun and Profitable Work Place.

This element of corporate culture means that your company focuses on more than doing business.  You see, consumers want more from organizations today. They want to see you have a conscience.  Is your company green?  Do you have charity considerations and events, like Google in the above example?

Whole Foods co-founder John Mackey calls this element of company culture “conscious capitalism.” Thus we predict that more and more organizations are standing for something generous and altruistic.

We believe Bullhorn can create a film for you which will demonstrate your considerations, like transparency and environmental impact. In fact, if you have such visions, we can create a video to demonstrate them.

As the experts at FastCompany say, “It’s a great time to be a conscious company, offering innovative products that are good for customers, employees, and the planet.”

Trend Number Two:  A New Respect for Remote Work

In the old days, we thought about remote workers who were beachy tech enthusiasts. They worked from a beach chair with a laptop.  Well, some people still do that and fulfill that typical prototype. However, the image of working remotely or having employees that work-from-home has changed for many companies. Certainly, remote workers have changed the lives of their companies.  For example, a new respect for flexibility of time and place has opened new pathways into rural areas.

Likewise, with great benefits for remote workers, corporations have been able to employ people with disabilities or chronic diseases, and other workers-like new parents-who could not deal with the typical work schedules.

Trend Number Three: Respecting Dads or the “Inclusive Family Leave” Policy

Did you know more corporations were changing their attitudes towards paternity leave?  If your company is giving fathers extended, paid leave, you are part of a growing 2020 trend.  Experts say, “More fathers are beginning to feel comfortable taking extended time off…” And they add, “Men today are as likely as women to say they need to have time off work to care for babies, aging parents, or sick family members.”

The corporate philosophy of Buffer includes three months of leave for all expectant parents. Plus they actually encourage the secondary caregivers to take-off the full leave time. But more than lines in a company policy manual, this reflects how the general trend is traveling toward a more compassionate look at family life.

And now we ask you, what is in your corporate culture that encourages “parent-child bonding?” It can affect your bottom line due to improved employee morale, performance, productivity and, of course, turn-over.
